Jose Mier And A Fruitless Search
Like John Cleese’s character in Monty Python’s cheese shop sketch who keeps asking for different kinds of cheeses only to be confronted by one “no” after another, I keep searching for any type of disinfecting wipes I can find. And like that character says I guess it was pure optimism on my part to have posed a question in the first place.
I can’t remember the last time I saw disinfecting wipes. I have searched Ralph’s grocery store. I have searched Smart and Final. I have searched other grocery stores. I continue to make a beeline to the area of Costco where disinfecting wipes were once located but for months have been disappointed again and again.
An article and associated video on ABCnews.com says that we may not see Clorox disinfecting wipes again until 2021. Can we wait that long?
Disinfecting wipes used to be used to wipe down countertops toilets faucets, etc. Now my ritual is to bring groceries home from the store and wipe down every single package. I was not a germaphobe prior to the coronavirus pandemic and didn’t even buy disinfecting wipes let alone use them to wipe down the countertop. Now I’ve become some sort of latter-day Howard Hughes afraid of any little germ entering my house.
I pose this question to my Sun Valley neighbors: do you know where I can get Clorox disinfecting wipes? Have you been successful in finding these wipes? Do you have a strategy? For example, is there a specific time of day I should go in search of these items? Is there a specific store, perhaps one that people don’t frequent often? If you do have the answers to any of these questions or insight into how I can find some more disinfecting wipes please let me know. Of course I want you to just tell me and not spread it around before I can get my hands on some of these treasures.
All kidding aside, I would like to hear from any of my Sun Valley neighbors about this shortage we face and what you’re doing about it. Until next time this is José Mier saying stay clean Sun Valley!
